My zine is all about the little moments from my childhood. It is very personal, tailored to my own experiences, giving viewers a look into the sweetness of my formative years. I wanted to focus on the warm and fuzzy memories that flood back when I think about my early life. The days where my biggest fears were the monsters hiding in my closet and the long needles at the doctor. Stuffing my face with “soccer” orange slices and swirled salt water taffy. Filling endless coloring books with finger paint and crayon drawings, and spending countless hours watching Cartoon Network. When I was a child, I loved to scrapbook with the copies of photographs that my mom gave me. To make this zine feel like one of my childhood scrapbooks, I used real photographs of myself with family and outlined lots of the images with a fuzzy white border to look as if it were torn paper. I drew photos of myself as a baby to create interactive coloring book pages, allowing the recipients of my zine to tap back into their childhood by getting some crayons and filling in the lines. A lot of my past artwork focuses on darker topics, so I am very pleased with the outcome of this lighthearted and joyful collection of pieces. I hope this zine allows people to pause from the craziness of adult life and dive deep into nostalgia while reconnecting with their own childhood memories.
